Current Market - update

Some good/helpful market news came from last month's Real Estate & Economic Outlook session at Southern Methodist University. Here are some quick hits (story here):

• The North Texas housing market, like much of the country's, soared in 2022 in terms of sales and prices, then cooled quickly as ever-increasing interest rates took their toll. This year will likely be a mirror image of 2022, starting slowly, then accelerating in the second half of the year.
• Home prices nationally won’t "collapse," in large part because lending standards are strict and the supply of homes on the market is tight. But prices may continue to decline nationally and, perhaps in our area, but to a lesser extent, if any.
• “The Dallas Fort Worth area is projected to be one of the top real estate markets in 2023-- that's relatively speaking, but again, you'd rather be here because of the strong job growth. It just trickles into everything that we do in housing as well."
