OHT sponsors various charities throughout the year.
We can do this because YOU use and refer us to others. Thank you for your business and your support! This quarter, the OHT is teaming up with Many Helping Hands as they reach out to help unhoused persons in our area. Many Helping Hands is an organization made up of fifteen different Churches in Irving that come together each Thursday night and provide a hot meal for poor and unhoused residents. No one is turned away. On average, over 100 people are fed each Thursday night, and even on Thanksgiving and any other holiday that falls on Thursday. They also provide clothes, sleeping bags, and other needed items. According to the government census there are not many “Homeless” in Irving. This is misleading because their criteria for “homeless” is defined as being on the streets for a year. This does not take into account people that are recently living on the streets, people that may be able to sleep on a friend or relative’s sofa, or those that in and out of a homeless shelter. And, it doesn’t take into account poor residents that may have shelter but have little to eat, few clothes and need some assistance to get back on their feet. On Dec. 2nd Many Helping Hands is having their winter clothing drive. All donations will go to families and unhoused Irving individuals that are in need. We need gently used blankets, sleeping bags, backpacks, warm clothing, shoes, coats, gloves, socks, underwear (new only please) hats, scarves, hand warmers. The OHT will gladly pick up any of these items from you before Nov. 30th. Just call, email or text me and I will make it happen! We’ll make this even easier for you, our pleasure! Or, you can drop items off at the OHT Headquarters at 405 Plantation DR. Coppell, TX 75019. If you would like to donate to Many Helping Hands or just want more information go to their website http://www.manyhelpinghands.org/.
